— «When I Was Your Man — Bruno Mars (Lyrics)»
LYRICS
Oh I know how to levitate up off my feet,
And ever since the seventh grade I learned to fire-breathe,
And though I feed on things that fell,
You can learn to levitate with just a little help,
Learn to levitate with just a little help.
Come down, come down,
Cowards only come through when the hour’s late,
And everyone’s asleep, mind you,
Now, show up, show up,
I know I shouldn’t say this,
But a curse from you is all that I would need right now, man.
Danger in the fabric of this thing I made,
I probably shouldnt show you but it’s way too late,
My heart is with you hiding but my minds not made,
Now they know it like we both knew for some time Id say.
They’re smirking at fresh blood, theyre circling above,
But this is not enough,
Yeah this is not what you thought,
No, no we are not just graffiti on a passing train,
I got back what I once bought back,
In that slot I wont need to replace.
This culture is a poacher of overexposure, not today,
Dont feed me to the vultures, I am a vulture who feeds on pain.
Sleep in a well-lit room, dont let the shadow through,
And sever all I knew. Yeah sever all,
I thought I could depend on, my weekends,
On the freezing ground that Im sleeping on,
Please keep me from, please keep me down from the ledges,
Better test it, wooden wedges under doorways,
Keep your wooden wedges under doors.
Chorus, verse, chorus, verse,
Now here comes the eight. Wait, habits here too,
Youre the worst, your structure compensates,
But compensation feels a lot like rising up to dominate,
By track two, at least they all know all they hear comes from a place.

The Tiny Desk is working from home for the foreseeable future. Introducing NPR Musics Tiny Desk (home) concerts, bringing you performances from across the country and the world. Its the same spirit — stripped-down sets, an intimate setting — just a different space.
Dec. 4, 2020 | Abby ONeill — With a genuine smile stretched across her face, Dua Lipa seems overjoyed to reconnect with her band for their only performance since their tour in support of her sophomore album, Future Nostalgia, was cancelled in March. Glowing from the inside out and accentuated by the apricot hues of a backdrop in a London studio, Dua and her backup vocalists and band bring life and warmth into households in need of «levitating» and some pep in their step this winter. This vibrant four song set of dance hits, all from Future Nostalgia, will surely have you cutting up the floor in your kitchen while quarantining in the cold weather.
While we cant film our Tiny Desk concerts at NPRs D.C. office during the pandemic, our «home» series has created opportunity for global megastars like Dua Lipa to bring her uptempo dance joints all the way from London. Of Kosovar Albanian descent, Dua Lipa was raised in the UK and rose to super stardom in the three years since her eponymous debut album dropped in 2017. NPR Music featured her in our docu-series Noteworthy at the onset of her career. Its been extraordinary to witness her colossal takeover of the pop music landscape. Dua sums the times during her intro of «Love Again»: «Its about manifesting good things into your life, when things arent quite going your way.»

Your love isnt fair
You live in a world where you didnt listen
And you didnt care
So Im floating
Floating on air
Oh… yeah…
No warning of such a sad song
Of broken hearts
My dreams of fairy tales and fantasy, oh
Were torn apart
I lost my peace of mind
Somewhere along the way
I knew theres come a time
Youd hear me say
Im sick and tired
Of always being sick and tired
