Tame Impalas Kevin Parker sits down with Pitchfork to talk about some of his favorite drum sounds. From John Bonhams thunderous claps on Led Zeppelins «Good Times Bad Times,» to Portisheads «Holy Grail» drum feel, Kevin explains what makes these drums so influential to his own sound.
I didnt want to be the one to forget
I thought of everything Id never regret
A little time with you is all that I get
Thats all we need because its all we can take
One thing I never see the same when your round
I dont believe in him-his lips on the ground
I wanna take you to that place in the "«Roche»"
But no one gives us any time anymore
He ask me once if Id look in on his dog
You made an offer for it, then you ran off
I got this picture of us kids in my head
And all I hear is the last thing that you said"
Remi Wolf — Photo ID. An exclusive live performance for Vevo DSCVR ARTISTS TO WATCH 2021, an annual series highlighting those that are shaping the future of music.
Remi Wolf will put a smile on your face, even in a year as bleak as 2020. Just get a load of her backstory for a chuckle: The 24-year-old once competed as a Junior Olympics downhill ski racer, has sung Marvin Gayes “Let’s Get It On” in front of a star-studded panel of American Idol judges, and titled her pair of funky EPs, ‘You’re A Dog!’ and ‘I’m Allergic To Dogs!’ (lol). In addition, check her videos. They’re hilarious, and signifier of a creative approach that has stamped Wolf as Cali’s quirkiest soul disciple. The singer says her main goal is simple: to make music fun. In classic “can’t kill my vibes” fashion, Remi spent a chunk of her quarantine time on retreat at a dairy farm — dodging the news and staying sane through meditation, therapy, and, of course, songwriting. She also got herself a puppy. This summer, after months of musical stasis, her performance at a Los Angeles drive-in theater was one of the first live shows in the US. Evidence strongly suggests there’s no stopping the Remi Wolf mojo. We knew we wanted her in our Artists To Watch 2021 lineup, and these takes of the fizzy “Photo ID” and chill-funk “Disco Man” brim with swag, color, and joy. If you’re looking for rocket fuel to carry you into next year, you’ve come to the right place. Grab your best bucket hat and dance along.
