The official music video for Where The Streets Have No Name by U2.
An afternoon rooftop show above the Republic liquor store at 7th and Main was shut down by police as a result of the huge crowds that descended on downtown Los Angeles to see the band perform the opening track from The Joshua Tree album in March 1987 for this video by Meiert Avis.
I wanna run, I want to hide
I wanna tear down the walls
That hold me inside.
I wanna reach out
And touch the flame
Where the streets have no name.
I wanna feel sunlight on my face.
I see the dust-cloud
Disappear without a trace.
I wanna take shelter
From the poison rain
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name.
Were still building and burning down love
Burning down love.
And when I go there
I go there with you
(Its all I can do).
The citys a flood, and our love turns to rust.
Were beaten and blown by the wind
Trampled in dust.
Ill show you a place
High on a desert plain
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name.
Were still building and burning down love
Burning down love.
And when I go there
I go there with you
(Its all I can do).

As part of 60s group The Animals, Eric Burdon sang lead on the #1 hit «The House Of The Rising Sun» and thirteen other Top 40 tunes. In 1970, he left the Animals and recorded «Spill The Wine» with War, a Latin band from Long Beach, CA who backed him until 1971. Producer Jerry Goldstein had seen the band at a gig in Hollywood and became enamored of their distinctive sound. The original members were Howard Scott, Lee Oskar, Lonnie Jordon, Charles Miller, Thomas Allen, Morris Dickerson and Harold Brown and all shared lead vocals. After the success of «Spill The Wine», Eric left and the band soldiered on to spread their message of brotherhood and harmony and spoke out against social inequalities and gangs. «Slippin Into Darkness» was issued in 1973 and became a #16 hit and then «The World Is A Ghetto» peaked at #7 in early 1973. «The Cisco Kid» single peaked at #2 for two weeks, becoming their most popular single ever. «Why Cant We Be Friends» LP was issued in 1975 and held two top 10 singles, the title track and second single «Low Rider» both peaked at #7, but then «Low Rider» did one better by taking the #1 spot on the R
24kGoldn — Mood. An exclusive live performance for Vevo DSCVR ARTISTS TO WATCH 2021, an annual series highlighting those that are shaping the future of music.
It’s safe to say 24kGoldn was born to shine. His first name actually IS Golden, how’s that for starters? What’s more, at the age of 20, the alt-rapper has already gone platinum with “Mood,” his insanely catchy track with pal iann dior. As the story goes, the chart-topper was made offhand during a Call of Duty gaming sesh with Golden, iann, and producer pals Keegan Bach and Omer Fedi. “It was the first guitar riff that Omer played," Golden has said, «and without even thinking I started singing, “Why you always in a mood? Omer was like, ‘that’s fire.‘” It may sound like lightning in a bottle, but the sunny San Francisco native’s success comes as no surprise to Soundcloud users. Three years ago the indie community was showing love to Golden’s early and strong efforts “Valentino” and “Ballin’ Like Shareef,” the latter an eye-wink reference to both Shaquille O’Neill’s son and their Gen Z tribe. Where’d the musicality come from? Goldens mom tells a story of her son frequently using chopsticks as drumsticks on an upside-down yellow bucket. After that he did time in a local choir. In high school, an older friend told him about the availability of a studio. “The more music I made, the better it got, and the more people wanted to hear it.” Now his tracks have A-listers such as Justin Bieber and J Balvin hopping on remixes. The pandemic precluded a full band participating in our Artist To Watch performances, but that didn’t affect the musics energy. Golden and his pink-haired pal brought plenty of fire. Enjoy these live takes of “Mood” and “Coco.”
